Welcome to the literacy section of our website, where you will find all things books, reading and STEAM-related! Here at CDI, we are passionate about fostering positive early reading habits, family literacy and STEAM learning, and have developed a suite of interventions and programmes on these topics. We also collaborate with the Dollywood Foundation to deliver books to children all over Tallaght! Find out more below.

Doodle Den

We know that literacy instruction is crucial during those early school years and that’s why we developed Doodle Den. Doodle Den is our evidence-based after-school literacy intervention for children in senior infants.

Doodle Families

Literacy is important for the whole family and family literacy is all about the way families use and develop literacy skills at home. Doodle Families is an 8-week family literacy programme for children in 1st class and their parents.

Doodle STEAM

STEAM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) are hugely important for children and know it can be difficult to know where to start with STEAM learning at home. Doodle STEAM is an 8-week programme focused on empowering parents to engage in STEAM activities at home, with a focus on integrating STEAM learning in everyday life.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launched in Dublin 24 in February 2019, and since then we have delivered over 260,000 books to children in the area. Any child under the age of 5 years old in Dublin 24 can sign up, and get a free book delivered to their door every month until they turn 5.
