Restorative Practice Training of Trainers for Schools – 2024 Erasmus+ Schools Project between Ireland and Malta

CDI were delighted to be able to partner with the Malta Anti Bullying Service on an Erasmus+ funded Small Scale Cooperation Project in 2024. The goal of this project is to support teachers, school leaders, and other education professionals in Ireland and Malta. It aims to enhance their skills in addressing bullying, resolving conflicts, and fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity in education.

Expected Results

The project aims to significantly increase the number of Restorative Practices trainers in both Malta and Tallaght, Ireland. Participating Irish teachers and existing RP Trainers associated with CDI in Ireland will gain advanced skills and knowledge in best practices for addressing bullying in schools. CDI, currently collaborating with 106 RP Trainers across Ireland, will disseminate the insights and learnings from this project to all trainers involved

TReP (Professional Training in Restorative Practices)

TReP (Professional Training in Restorative Practices) is a project that was implemented through an international partnership between CDI, SOS Malta (Lead Partner), SGM Solutions & Global Media GmbH (Berlin), Partners Bulgaria Foundation, Malta College of Arts Science and Technology, and BrainShuttle (Tenerife). The Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union funded the project.

The project created and tested a part-time online training course in Restorative Practices for a Level 5 Undergraduate Certificate. This course aimed to promote alternative conflict resolution and management procedures and restorative methods to help prevent conflicts and minimise the occurrence of bullying, aggression, violence, and other behaviours identified as risk factors.

The project started in September 2018 and eighteen people completed the TReP course, which took place over 10 months, and received ECAS Level 5 Certificates
